At Consono, we take into account that each family and child is unique, each with its values, philosophies and dynamics. By receiving the right tools, everyone at home will understand the best hours of rest for the family, they will know the hours of sleep they need and, above all, they will know how to make the most of their rest to be able to carry out the activities they do, according to their daily schedule, to increase the quality of life they have.
We'll team up parents and children and create a plan tailored to their expectations, during which I'll be there to support the whole family, teaching them a series of tools and solutions to improve their children's rest at home. This way, parents receive a detailed, step-by-step plan so that the family and their children rest better, adapting to the necessary changes. As a consultant, I will share my training, experience, and support to help you learn how to respond to the changes in sleep evolution as your child grows.
My mission is to prepare parents to manage their children's sleep better than I can!

Good sleep habits and routines can be established from the moment the baby arrives home, however, it is not recommended to start any formal education before 4 months (corrected). On the other hand, you don't have to wait until that age to establish a solid foundation of good sleeping habits. For first-time parents, pregnant women or those who have never had access to all the information, I'm going to explain about expectations and how to get to know your baby's unique sleep.
Sleep is a learned skill, that is, the ability to fall asleep and go back to sleep when you wake up is something we learn and perfect, just like picking up a pencil to write or cutlery to eat. When we learn this skill well, we imitate it perfectly throughout our lives. That's why, if you can gradually teach your baby or child to master the way they sleep, you'll be giving them a fundamental tool and a healthy habit for life. At Consono, I can offer you all the help you need.

While it's true that exhaustion makes us want to go to sleep straight away, in the case of children the results can vary depending on their age, personality, temperament, the stage of development the child is at and, above all, the constancy with which you work during the process of educating them in new habits. In my experience, I've seen changes in a short period, a week or less, but two weeks is usually ideal to ensure a good start and establish a solid foundation with the new healthy sleep habits that will be implemented throughout my consultancy.

Sleeping is a skill we all have, but it needs to be learned just like writing, speaking or walking. A child can indeed learn all these skills in their way, but they may not be able to do so without training and example. The behavior of falling asleep and staying asleep is learned.
Whether for a baby, a child or an adult, any change in habits always brings some protest or resistance. Children may cry. After all, you won't let them look out of the third floor window, or cry because you suddenly take your hand away when they try to touch a socket, but you're doing it for their good and to protect them. It will pass, and she will learn not to do it. It's the same with sleep: when your baby or child learns to fall asleep knowing that they will be looked after, they will sleep peacefully, safely and calmly.
I can give you a good example: my daughter and her cavities. When we discovered that we had to have her treated for cavities in her milk teeth, we had to follow guidelines to protect her teeth and prevent future damage. This change and improvement in her diet caused crying, protests and a lot of resistance, as she was eating sweets several times a week.
She complained about her new strict diet and the daily hygiene of her teeth. Was she affected by crying and having to stop eating sweets like she used to? Of course not. Now, with the hygiene she has, she's very happy that she doesn't have to go to the dentist to fix new cavities, and she's now used to eating sweets on the days when she can. The result is stronger, healthier teeth.
The same can be done with sleep hygiene: once your child learns it, they'll love it as much as you do, and it will stay with them for the rest of their lives!
If listening to your child cry isn't what you're looking for, there is a way to do it and achieve the same goal; however, this way will indeed require more time and commitment from everyone looking after the child.
At Consono, we support families in everything! So that crying doesn't get in the way of sleep.
